Which south Florida Gulf beach town to go to this April with my 2 teenagers?
We have always visited the east coast but I want to show my kids the beauty of the west coast with white sand and warmer water in April. Would like it to be close to an airport since we only have about 4 days to spend. Any suggestions?

Sanibel and Captiva( Ft. Meyers airport) or Siesta
Key( Sarasota airport) |
Longboat Key or Siesta Key, which you can also drive to from Tampa International Airport if the fares are better.

Sanibel and Captiva are wonderful but be aware they are very VERY quiet places (thinking of the kids here).
|
The advantage of Sanibel for teenagers is that it is quiet enough that you can turn them loose on bikes with some money for lunch and not worry about them.
I agree with Dukey about Captiva, even for adults. Siesta Key, Venice, Gasparilla Island, Naples, all have things to do. |
My sister's family has a LONG LONG history of taking their family to Fort Myers Beach from babies to teens, and now those kids do the same for theirs.

Thank you for all the suggestions! Leaning towards Siesta Key. Does anyone have any suggestions for a place to stay around siesta beach? There are hotels and private rentals. Would hate to get there and be stuck in a bad place for 4 nights. Thanks for any suggestions!

I have stayed at Siesta Dunes 3 times and it's a great place. They are all 2 bedroom condos (there may be a few 3 bedroom). I'm not sure if you will be able to rent for less than a week. You may have to stay at a hotel if you are only going for 4 days. There is a Hyatt there that is supposed to be nice.

Robyn6, with the greatest of respect for both you and the people who post here I would NOT limit my choices solely to the recs on here.
