Which Side Of Plane?

Which side of the plane is better for viewing scenery on flights into HNL, flights from HNL to Hilo and Lihue?

The plane will take off to the southeast from HNL regardless do to local wind.
If you are headed to Hilo you'll see Maui an Molakai from the right, but miss Honolulu and Diamond Head on take off.

I have flown into Lihue at least 100 times, I'd say 95% of the time the view from the left side of the plane is better for both take-off (Diamond Head/Waikiki) and landing (the Kauai coastline and Nawiliwili Harbor.) Occasionally (maybe 5% of the time) the pilot will make a different approach due to weather, wind. One very special day our pilot announced we were going to do a bit of flightseeing and we circled Kauai and the Napali Coast before heading to Honolulu.

When flying Lihue to Honolulu I sit on the left for a great view of the Waianae
Coast and Pearl Harbor.

Good question. Here's another: which side is best for flights to and from the mainland into Kona? Thanks

viva vivi,
That is one good pilot! Did you tip him? ;)
We are "lefties" too flying in and out of Kauai. We get to wave to Da Big Guy on the flight out.:'(

t'lynn,
The mai tais are better on Kauai.
Mucho mahalos!

Hi, Kal. I still REALLY want to come to Kauai, but since I have to throw the activity and the boat ride in, I want to come in the summertime, so I can paddle the Na Pali coast. I don't think I've ever had a mai tai, but I'll think of you when I have my first on the Big Island. I'm planning to sip one watching the sunset on our first evening there. It will be sooo nice after 6 weeks of cold in Colorado.

t'lynn...:-O Just one!?!?! Come on, Sistah! You're in Hawaii and lookin' at a sunset.

One of our sick treats on Kauai is joining other guests at The Sand Bar and watching The Weather Channel to see all of the Eastern guests laffin' at their hometown weather reports.
Then they realize they have to go back!
((H))
Yep, one of thses days we have to go over in the summertime and "do" the NoShore without the risk of :&

Last time I landed in HNL it was the right side from where you are sitting. That can change if the approach changes.
