Which Santa Fe restaurant should I try this time?
 

I'm heading out on my annual pilgri mage to The City Different in a couple of weeks and would like to try some restaurants I haven't yet visited. The three that come to mind are Harry's Roadhouse, Tomasita's and Cowgirl Hall of Fame. Any comments on these? I probably won't make it to all three so give me some revues!

I was disappointed in Cowgirl last time I was in Santa Fe. It was loud, slow and the food seemed to be off. Personally, I think it's better for lunch than dinner.

Tomasita's has never disappointed me, though it's not real high on my list. But that's just me. Lots of people love it.

Don't know Harry's.

JackOneill, what others have you tried and really liked? I love the Plaza Cafe (for lunch) and Marias, and have also tried Guadlupe Cafe, Chicago Pizza, and The Shed, to name a few I can remember.

Was at both Cowgirl and Tomasita's in May - food was fine at both but I liked atmosphere at Tomasita's more. Weather was unseasonably hot when we were there and Cowgirl needed A/C - we were in a small dining room and the air was stuffy. You can dine outside at Cowgirls and we probably should have waited for a table there.

Paul's for dinner.
Pasqual's for breakfast or lunch.
Tesuque Market for a great and cheap breakfast.
Santacafe for dinner. (probably my favorite.)
For a great, fun evening head down to the Lost Mine Tavern in Madrid. Kind of a rowdy crowd, but it's a fun place. For lunch get the blue cheese burger.

I think what appealed to me about Cowgirl was the live music. How was that aspect of the place?

I have never heard of Pauls. Where is it and what kind of food?

I love Harry's Roadhouse. Great food, the patio out back is very nice to sit at. The bar is quite small but very cozy and airy, the restuarant itself has somewhat of a diner feel, but very clean. The food is more American than Southwestern and the desserts are awesome.

Haven't made it to the Cowgirl Hall of Fame and i'm horrible with names so I don't know if I've been to Tomasita's. But i highly recommend Harry's but I wouldn't classify it as typical New Mexican or Santa Fe in atmosphere

I'm one of those that loves Tomasita's. Great food. Nothing special on atmosphere so we typically do dinner there and dessert and/or drinks elsewhere.

We had lunch outside at the Cowgirl which was very pleasant. I agree with the comment about the service being slow.

I also love Guadalupe Cafe and second the notion for Santacafe tho it is $$$. Is the Pink Adobe still around?

OMG I am getting hungry for Santa Fe in more ways than one!!! I am definitely doing Tomasitas as soon as I get to town -- will have designated driver and plenty of margaritas! I hope to hit at least one of these others places this trip.

Thanks for all the information and suggestions. My goal is to try one or two "new" places each year.

Taco Bell?

emummert, I know you meant that as a joke, but Taco Bell in New Mexico beats out half the crap that passes for tex mex on the eastern seaboard!
