Which San Diego and San Francisco Hotels?

Looking for a good location and a nice hotel. Recommendations?

San Diego - Grand Hyatt, Hotel Solamar, Courtyard Mariott Waterfront

San Francisco - Hotel Serrano, Villa Florence, Clift Hotel, Westin San Francisco

I recently stayed at the Ivy in San Diego and loved it. Great rooms (though a little small), loved the concierge service, rooftop bar with fire pit, and location convenient to everything. But the Mariott was a great spot to be on the water.

Had a drink on fourth of July at the Solamar by the pool. It was soo dirty.. yucky..

It was a hip place to be.. obviously gearing up for the night..not sure what kind of place you are looking for.. but there has to be cleaner!I t was pretty awful.

Grand Hyatt and the Marriott at the water are both nice,,not sure where the courtyard is..

I like the Hotel Solamar; more of a boutique hotel like the Ivy. The Marriott and Hyatt are nice but more of the generic big hotel but great views right on the water.

We really liked the Omni in San Diego, just across from the convention center. Ask for a corner room, up high, with a waterview. We had a huge room and excellent service.
