Which Ritz in Washington DC??

Hello, am considering staying at one of the Ritz-Carltons in DC. Have read the threads on Pentagon City (very nice), but wondering what the opinions are on the Ritz on 22nd and M St.?? Have two teenagers for three nights and like to be where there is alot to do. Thanks for any advice!!

A coupleof years ago we stayed near the Ritz at Pentagon City, we caught the metro in the Pentagon City Mall everyday and that mall is awesome, 4 stories of stores plus movies. Our 3 teens loved it. If I were going again and had that kind of hotel budget I'd pick the one at the Pentagon. Very convenient with the metro downstairs and from what I could see of the hotel, gorgeous. Have fun.

I haven't stayed at the Ritz downtown but I have stayed at Pentagon and Tysons. I prefer the Tysons location over the Pentagon one. The service is much better. There isn't a metro stop, however. It is easy to get into the city from there by car.

Do not stay at the Tyson's Corner Ritz unless you are in that area for business. Pentagon City and Downtown are much more convenient for sightseeing. The Pentagon City hotel is connected to the Fashion Center at Pentagon City (mall), and would probably keep the teens happy.

I imagine your teens might like the mall, it is a nice one; I myself would always prefer to be in a city than a suburban shopping mall, and the 22nd st location is very convenient for sightseeing and restaurants, the Phillips Collection and some shops as well as many movie theaters, coffee shops, etc. It's not the atmosphere of a mall where teens hang out, though. I haven't been to the Pentago lately, but it's my understanding they have moved the Pentagon bus service right in front of the Ritz Carlton (from the Pentagon, I think due to some construction there to improve security around the metro stop, all buses were rerouted in front of the Ritz) so it can get extremely crowded around there on public transit. As long as you avoid the metro around commuting rush hours, I guess it should be ok (I think Pentagon employees now may get off in from of the Ritz and then take the metro one stop to work, if they take the bus--the buses used to stop at the Pentagon). It may not matter to you, just don't be surprised if there are crowds. I would not recommend Tysons Corner at all; the traffic is horrendous around there due to excessive construction of office space and home and inadequate roads and no metro stop, it has gotten worse every year. I have lived in this area quite a few years now (not right there) and even I find it confusing and nervewracking to drive around there.
Christina pretty much summed up the Pentagon City location--they're now calling it the Ritz Bus Stop.

Getting from the Tysons location downtown is only an easy trip if you're doing it on a weekend, and there doesn't happen to be any major construction going on. Or only traveling from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

The Ritz-Pentagon City is connected to a mall which is ideal for teens. Its also near the Pentagon City metro which you would have to take to do any of the typical tourist things. The Pentagon City Ritz is about 5 mins. from National Airport. The Ritz in Downtown is much more centrally located to all the tourist attractions. Its depends on what you are most interested in doing.
Both hotels are lovely b/c they are both Ritz properties.

I thought the 22nd and M street Ritz was great. Great staterooms, extremely comfortable beds, and excellent location within walking distance of Dupont Circle. Another bonus feature for you or teenagers is that the gym at the new Ritz on 22nd and M is FABULOUS.

I never stayed in the Pentagon City Ritz, though.

What's the best way to get from the Ritz on M St. to the Washington Monument? (Or does the Pentagon Metro stop closer in)? Thanks!

Just to clarify, there are two Metro stops near the Pentagon. One is just called Pentagon, the other is Pentagon City. Pentagon City is where the Ritz is located.
