Which Ritz-Carlton?
 

Hello all! My husband won two nights at a Ritz-Carlton! We live in St. Louis. We would probably add another night (all we can afford) for a three nighter. Anyone have knowledge about the Ritz? We would like to go to an exceptional location. THANKS.

Ritz Carlton Naples (the beach one) is our favorite.

Is it only for the U.S.? If not what about using it in Europe! If that is out of the question I agree with the above poster - Naples Ritz.

Another vote for Naples (be sure it's the beach resort, not the golf resort). It has everything -- spa, beach, great pools, good restaurants, nice bar, shops, etc. You can also shuttle to the golf resort for golf.

Never been to Laguna Beach, though. Isn't there a Ritz there?

Thanks everyone! Naples was one of our considerations as was San Francisco. We are limited to US or some Caribbean spots. We are as I mentioned only able to afford possibly one, maybe two additional nights at their prices. Thanks again.

millsy, based on that last comment, I would consider meals, etc. I got a great rate at the Naples Ritz - and spent triple on meals and drinks. Ditto for Jamaica.

I've enjoyed every Ritz I've ever stayed in, but I'd choose a Ritz location with other dining options nearby. The "free" room is only the start of the cost of the trip. A city location or Beaver Creek, etc. would give you more options as to places to eat and drink.

Go somewhere you would like to see. The Ritz will be a fabulous hotel no matter the location.

Been to all three - the JA one is the best.

We stayed at the Ritz on Amelia Island, Florida, several months ago and had a wonderful experience.

There are lots of smaller restaurants and other resort-type options for meals in the area.

I don't think we ate a single full meal at the Ritz Naples because Naples has tons of great restaurants. We loved Roy's Hawaiian -- get the Hawaiian martini! <hic>

Diana - looks amazing (JA) but concerned as others mentioned about the cost of meals with no other options around. Is this Ritz secluded from other dining options? Ditto St. Thomas?

We didn't go off property in Jamaica. I'm just not that comfortable doing so (I don't have a problem on other islands). We also didn't go off property in Naples. I went when the property was brand new and there weren't any nearby options.

starrsville, when I stayed at the RC Jamaica right when they opened up, they offered the all inclusive option. Is it no longer offered? I think this was August of 2001.

Don't forget the Ritz Carlton South Beach. TONS of reasonably priced restaurants within spitting distance.

I don't think the AI option is available for the OP. I stayed over en route to St. Lucia (flying on FF points). So, I got a great rate and spent a pretty penny on food and drinks. I don't begrudge the $$$ spent - just thought the OP would want to give the dining/drinking options a thought.

I would recommend the Ritz Carlton in Grand Cayman, if that's a possibility. My sister works there and it's beautiful and the spa is fantastic.

I remember when we were offered the AI plan there I was kind of stunned. I had never heard of AI at a RC.

JAGIRL and others - please don't flame me, but, I just don't feel as safe heading out on Jamaica as I do other islands. Something about the taxi driver offering you a deal on drugs when you are picked up at the airport...

I like Amelia Island, and even Lake Oconee (a very different feel), Buckhead Atlanta - especially for holiday shopping. Miami is a great idea. I'd probably opt for Colorado or San Francisco.

Grand Cayman I would do - in a heartbeat. There's a lot of snorkeling waiting for me in the Caymans! :-)
