Which resort should I stay in on Maui, Kauai and Big Island ?

On the Big Island, the Kohala/Kona coast is the "dry" side; the Hilo side is the wet side. On Kauai, the north shore near Princeville is much wetter than the Poipu area to the south. Depends what you like--lush green tropical landscapes versus nearly guaranteed dry weather and sunshine. I know far less about Maui but the Kaanapali coast is really the only significant shopping area of the three islands you've listed. Which resort is best on any island depends entirely on price range, activities you'd like, and your preferences--there are scads of good ones. You might try some of the general guidebooks to get more info.

I only know about Maui - was there for three weeks last May. In Wailea we stayed at both the Palms of Wailea and the Four Seasons. The Palms were great - large, very economical but not on the beach. The Four Seasons was wonderful but very expensive. In my opinion, the best place to stay is Kaanaplai - we stayed at the Sheraton, absolutely loved it, would stay there again in a heart beat. It is very convenient to shopping in Kaanapali and just a short drive to Lahaina.

Went to Maui in January and stayed in Kaanapali at the Embassy Suites. I would reccomend it to everybody. There is a free, huge breakfast buffet every morning, free nightly cocktail hour, and each room comes with a small kitchen, including a refrigerator, a living room, big bathroom, and even bigger bedroom. Why stay in just a room when you can pay the same amount and stay in a suite.
