thanks, Harry. Any locals know if any car rental companies are more convenient in this particular airport than others? I've been in some airports where one company was further away.

All the majors are right at the airport, across the street from the arrivals exit near baggage claim. They are in the lower level of the short-term parking garage.

When I did a quick Orbitz search for a car at PDX, it showed Thrifty, Dollar, Alamo, Budget, National, Avis, and Hertz all in-terminal and that would all be about the same place. A couple of more (Enterprise?) may have off-airport shuttles for pickup.

Alamo moved about a mile away from the airport several years ago. I thought all of the companies were having to leave, but last trip I saw many were still in the parking structure.

We used Enterprise, they came to our hotel with the car.

Alamo and Enterprise are about a mile and a half east of the airport and you are shuttled there after booking the car. The others are in the aiport proper.
