Which Phila Hotel
 

We are going to Philadelphia for a little trip. Which hotel is best as far as location and ammenities. We want to walk everywhere and feel away from at all at the same time.

The Rittenhouse will put you closer to restaurants, the Four Seasons to the museums, the Ritz to the theaters. It depends on what you want. All are within walking distance of each other, not close, but still walkable.

They are all basically in the same area. The FS is closest to the art museum.

All are great hotels. I would choose the Rittenhouse because of Rittenhouse Sq.

The Ritz-Carlton is stunning...What a gorgeous lobby! I liked it better than the 4S because I liked the area better--and you can walk right down to Rittenhouse Sq.

What about the Best Western Independence Park Hotel? It looks like it will be a good choice since we are only going to be there for a 1/2 day and overnight on our way to New York. Thought we would like to see some history in Philly, and grab a cheesesteak! It will be 2 adults and 2 teens. The hotel looks nice on the web. I'd like to park the car and just walk while we're there.

The Omni is in a great location for walking to all the site around Independence Park and right by lots of great restaurants in Old Town.

It depends on your style. The Rittenhouse is on Rittenhouse Square and is close night life and a lot of restaurants and shopping. The Four Seasons is a little more isolated, but is close to a couple of restaurants and is walking distance to the Rodin, the Franklin Institute and Natural History Museum. Both the Rittenhouse and Four Seasons have the top restaurants in Philly.

I personally do not care for the Ritz. I have had bad meals and poor service there.

Since you are looking at luxury hotels, the Omni is a very good choice also because it is on Independence Park. There are quite a few good restaurants, cafes and clubs near there.

Also, the Westin and Sofitel are good luxury choices near Rittenhouse Square.

There is also Loew's, right near City Hall and the Reading Terminal Market. My aunt, the famous British antiques expert and TV personality always stays here when she comes to Philly. The views are spectacular.

The Westin is also very nice.

The Rittenhouse Sq. area--one of the nicest areas in all of Philly is not near the Independence Mall. It is a long 12-block walk between the two.

I'd second the recommendation of the Loews; this is where I stayed last time I was there. It's closer to Independence Hall and very close to that indoor market where you can get good cheese steaks (both within walking distance ... though Independence Hall is a long walk). It's not within walking distance of the museums, but we took a bus there and made it quite easily. It sounds to me taht you are looking for something more upscale than a Best Western.

I've stayed at the Ritz &amp; Four Seasons, but the best room I've had in Philly in terms of size &amp; amenities was at the <b>Sofitel</b>, and the location was great too.

No, I've never stayed at the Rittenhouse.

And I don't recall the type of room I had at the Sofitel, but it wasn't a &quot;suite&quot; and it was reasonably priced -- less expensive than Ritz &amp; FS but much larger.
