which Phila. hotel?
 

A very high priority for us is quiet. Is such a thing possible in a hotel in this city? Other high priorities are proximity to pleasant areas to stroll (not interested in shopping), good sized rooms and bathrooms (bathroom especially important), good comfortable beds and good linens. Would love a nice view, but quiet is much more important. Would probably splurge for an expensive hotel if this was the only way we could find what we're hoping for, but of course would prefer to spend less.

A room overlooking the courtyard at the Four Seasons. You shouldn't have any problem. Most people want a view of the fountains but that would put you on the Parkway.

Rittenhouse Square is a lovely section to stay in.

I've stayed at Rittenhouse 1715. It was pretty nice. Good linens, a nice breakfast, near Rittenhouse Square and shopping.

If you like art and have a car, check out the Barnes Foundation. You'll need reservations, but it is one of the best collections in the world, simply amazing.

Hear hear on the Rittenhouse 1715 recommendation. Very pleasant, quiet hotel with a great location.

We stayed at the Best Western Independence Park.

The inside of the hotel had a very historic look. Quiet, comfortable and not expensive. Pretty small.

We didn't have any view but the hotel is a block below Market and right on the edge of Independence Park.

Each morning I went out early for a walk in the Park and thru Society Hill. They're both an ideal place for walking around.

Btw, how does Rittenhouse Hotel compare to R1715? I wonder which might be more quiet? Which more handsome and comfortable?

Sofitel is nice. But also look at the Westin. It has a great location and used to be the Ritz Carlton; so, it's a bit above the average Westin.

I have only stayed at Rittenhouse 1715. It was quiet, because it is so small, only a few rooms per floor. When I checked earlier it was less expensive than Rittenhouse Hotel, but now it seems the reverse, as Rittenhouse Hotel has a Leap Year, and first time discount.

I was visiting my in-laws...so I wasn't very happy. The hotel is nice, but something was off, maybe the staff was a bit surly.

We had a car, and we had to park 15 minutes away, because the lot across the street was run by thugs, or something. Once my husband dropped me off at 10 p.m., and the door was locked, with no staff in sight, and no answer to the doorbell, and it was raining. The area isn't bad, but it's on a small side street, so I was not happy. Finally, I had to call the hotel to get the desk staff to let me in.

I thought our room was pretty but dark. There is a nice breakfast.

I recall it being very quiet, but no view.
