I live in the D.C. area and work downtown part of the time, and I have taken my kids to stay the night at St. Regis. They did cool stuff for the kids there, like bring them cookies and mild and little gund stuffed animals at bedtime, on a silver tray. The standard rooms are small though. Very nice, but small. Service is excellent, anything you want or need and you got it.

Monique, the point is that unlike California, DC has really good mass transit that's easy to use and convenient, this no need to drive unless absolutley necessary.

Please try Homewood Suites in Thomas Circle section. Best place I stayed with my family in city. Owned by Hilton Hotels

Make sure St. Regis knows you have kids ahead of time so they might regigger you in a bigger room. If kids have been to Italy, they will appreciate the classic hotel! Parking will cost $25 or so a day at the hotel, and there are a multitude of bkft/lunch places in the area (x Sunday - only Burger King open). President may go to early service at St. John's on the next block. Enjoy!
