Which of these Marriott properties in DC?
 

We have 1 free night Marriott coupons good for the following hotels. We want to stay at the nicest property in the best area. We will have a car so we are not as concerned about being able to walk everywhere. We want to be close to museums, etc. We are going April 12.<BR><BR>These are our choices, any comments?<BR>Residence Inn on Vermont Ave<BR>Residence Inn at Dupont Circle (on P Street)<BR>Renaissance Inn on Ninth St<BR>Courtyard Embassy Row (Rhode Island Ave)<BR>Courtyard NW (Connecticut Ave)<BR><BR>Any comments would be really helpful as I have to book this reservation very soon!! THANKS

You will not be very close to the major museums at any of these hotels, so choose the one that has the best Metro access and nicest neighborhood for evening activities -- my vote is for the P Street property. It is fairly new (three years, maybe), very close to the Dupont Circle metro, and in an area with lots of shops and restaurants.<BR>Second choice would be Connecticut Ave, but it is a bit farther from Metro (still Dupont Circle, but uphill four blocks), and just outside the downtown taxi zone.<BR>Whichever you choose, park the car and do not take it out of the garage until you are leaving town. You will get around Washington much better using Metro, feet, and taxis. Even if city driving doesn't phase you, the lack of parking will (public parking is virtually impossible anywhere near the Mall).<BR>Enjoy!

Kayd's right--you won't want to drive because it's very difficult to park--forget about street parking unless you're here on a weekend. Dupont Circle is probably your best bet in terms of neighborhood--the others aren't bad, but there's more life at night and more food choices around Dupont Circle.

There's a Courtyard about a block away from the MCI Center. I stayed there a few months ago. The rooms were nice, and it's a great location. Close to the metro and you can walk to a lot of tourist spots.

Oops--didn't realize you were limited to just those hotels. Sure they don't include all Courtyards in DC?

I've only been in one of those and that was a long time ago (the Courtyard near the Hilton), so can't compare quality (which may not vary that much) -- I'd probably choose the one at Dupont Circle for location, though. I'd check out which ones had the best parking (free or cheap) because you aren't going to be driving around DC to do things. Forget that idea.

Even if you have a car doesn't mean you'll be able to park it. This is especially true at the major tourist sites. I would choose the Residence Inn at Dupont on P st. and take the Metro to your destinations. As an added bonus, after a long day of sightseeing, you're hotel is ground zero for great restaurants, clubs, and night walks.

Another vote here for P Street. Stayed at the Radisson Barcelo - nice area, safe, convenient.

You might want to look at the marriott metro center. It is located next to the convention center and close to the mall ( museum area ) actually walking distance. Also the metro stops there. But if i had to pick one of your choices i would pick dupont circle residence inn. nick
