Which of 3 San Francisco Hotels?
 

We'll be in San Francisco in early June and I've narrowed our hotels to three:

The Andrews -- $139 for Petite Suite, cont. brkfst., discount parking

Cow Hollow Motor Inn -- $135 for room with loveseat, free parking

Best Western Carriage Inn -- $134 for king room with loveseat, cont. brkfst, discount parking

I've see a lot of comments here about Cow Hollow (most love it) and the Andrews (favorable) but one two-year-old comment about the Carriage Inn, saying the area (1.5 blocks south of Market) was changing for the better.

Our priorities are roominess (we'll be there 5 nights), cleanliness, safety and convenience to public transportation.

Can you help me decide?

I have never stayed at these properties but the Columbus Motor inn is a decent place and is a sister hotel to Cow Hollow.

I know only where the Andrews is - I like the area - safe, public transport, the restaurant in the hotel is not something to brag about, but it has the best Tiramisu in town :)

No one's heard about the BW Carriage Inn? What about the area it's in?

I believe it's South of Market on 7th or 8th Street. It's near public transportaion but there are a lot of homeless people in the area. I would use caution at night. The area is changing but still has many warehouses, auto service shops etc. From a resident of SF, I would go the Cow Hollow route.

Absoutely the Andrews.. have stayed there twice. It is a very difficult hotel to get into..They have a fabulous buffet breakfast on each floor in the a.m.... We have enjoyed having our "wine" in the Fino Restaurant attached to the hotel. Parking is a block away.. and it's very convenient..

Hmmm..."warehouses and auto service shops"... I think I'll eliminate the Carriage Inn. But after more web-surfing I've added Hotel del Sol to the mix. We could have a suite for $143 and free parking. Anyone stay there recently? Thanks for the input so far.

I went this past early June and used Priceline.com. I stayed at the Marriot Wharf for $70 a night. The hotel was very nice and in a great location. Just wanted to share that option with you.
