Which Marriott at Lake Tahoe?

Considering a summertrip to South Lake Tahoe. I'm a Marriott owner and am wondering the difference between Grand Residence Club and the Timber Lodge?

There would be several families--youngest would be 10 years, otherwise young adults, teens and obviously us, the parents.

I've never been there, but we love the outdoors and this sounds like a place where everyone can find something to do.

Wow if it doesn't matter which, then choose the Grand. It's a great place with a really nice pool, on-site spa, several jacuzzis. We stayed in a giant unit at the Grand that was 2 stories. The unpstairs loft area was HUGE and was great fun for the kids since they could watch TV, lounge, play around, etc plus there was a master bedroom with bath up there. Downstairs was a living room, kitchen, dining area, full bath and another master with bathroom. The balcony looked down on the gondola/shopping area. We could see the restaurant Fire and Ice and Wolfgang Puck's from our balcony. We really like it alot.

Timber Lodge is nice too but just not as nice as the Grand.

Have NO idea why this was topped - but ruthijayne asked this back in 2005 Doubt if she is still looking for an answer.

Maybe toncasmo is interested in the answer to this question. Oh well, it didn't hurt me to type out the answer! ;)

Yep - topping is definitely OK. But maybe next time add something like "even though this is an old thread - I'm interested in the same question" so we don't have to read minds.

Folks top threads for all sorts of reasons . . . . .

toncasmo - Hey I hope you have a great time. Either one is fine but the Grand is nicer!!!

thanks- i'm a cpa with a broken arm working tax season so have to minimize typing ! been to tahoe many times- parents had cabin when we were young and client used to have one on lake that used to give me but now have to find my own accomodations but can't decide which marriot. going for week for golf tourn in july and wanted to get big one if family wanted to join us (nephews just turned 21) didn't realize how much they were per night and seems like we used to always get the deals for free night if we toured (don't nornally do that but seems worth it here) but now that we want to stay i haven't gotten any !!

Sorry about the broken arm!

We stayed in the 2 story unit at the Grand in Sept after a really budget summer vacation. It was a splurge and we had a great time there and so did the kids. We hiked and went out to dinner which was always within walking distance. Kids still talk about it because in Tahoe, like you, we stay in a cabin that has no pool or jacuzzi or any of the other amenities that a hotel has yet we had a kitchen and room to roam!! I love Tahoe in July!!!
