Which island to wed on?
Hello -
I am recently engaged, and amongst all of the crazy planning my fiance and I are thinking about getting married in Hawai'i. Does any one have any suggestions - which island? Favorite locale on that island? Cruise ship wedding? Any experiences on the matter are greatly apprecaited. Like wise, we are also considering Tahiti or even the Carribbean - but Hawai'i is closest to us in California. Thank you so much - Rebecca |
I'd certainly do HI, since it's closer to you! My son and his (now estranged) wife married on Makena Beach, (south) Maui. A friend of mine (who's still married) had also 'Got Maui'd' there! It is beautiful!
Another friend and her DH got married on north shore of Oahu and they have returned annually for their anniversary! There are many places ...we saw one just below our lanai on Keawakapu Beach this past July. I would probably choose one of the south beaches of Maui. Belle |
My DH and I got married on the Big Island at the Royal Waikoloa on Kings' Knoll. We had the backdrop of the gorgeous crescent beach with huge palms, sunset and the waves. The wedding ceremony was performed by an Hawaiian using elements of the Hawaiian and Christian faith and a tribute to the natural elements so much in evidence that night. It was a beautiful, deeply affecting service and I have always been grateful we decided to do it that way. It was an elopement with only our best couple friends with us. A private and intensely emotional ceremony. We went whale watching after the ceremony! Although our wedding was on the Big Island I still went for the Just Mauid tee shirts. (One woman asked me if I was just mauled-LOL!) The only regret I have is that I bought my wedding dress there on the day of the wedding. I did it in a rush and ended up leaving the store with a dress other than the one I had selected and it was AWFUL. Oh well...

We were married on Kapalua Bay Beach and it was picture perfect. We were married at sunset so there wern't a million people around. We left it all up to our planner and did it for about $1500. It was just the two of us. We were staying at the Ritz and went back to the hotel and had a wonderful dinner at the Banyan Tree after. It was perfect for just the two of us.

My husband and I also got married on Kapalua Bay and it was gorgeous. We booked our wedding through Dolphin Dream Weddings - www.dolphindreamweddings.com Reverend Charlie couldn't have been nicer. I was planning from New York and had some specific ideas about what I wanted. He couldn't have been more accommodating. We had a wonderful wedding dinner at Pacific 'O. Congratulations and good luck to you!
