Which island to see and stay at first.
Never been to Hawaii and am not sure which island to stay on first. We are in or 50's so we are really not into night-club life. Heard that Kauai is the most relaxed and pretty, and Maui has the most tourist sites. How is the big island.

Aloha Bryan
Looks like you have done your homework. Actually all the islands have lots of things to offer. Honolulu is located on the Island of Oahu, where you can find the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor, Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head, as well as many other interesting sites. For a variety of activites, Maui is usually pretty crowded because of the many activities available. Kauai has lots of beautiful scenery, and is great for getting away to relax. The island of Hawaii (Big Island) is as the nick name indicates the largest of all the islands. It is probably best known for it's volcanos and lava fields. The Kona side of the islands have a lot of beautiful hotels and golf courses. If you have some time, you may want to spend a day or two on Hawaii. I have some things on my website of Oahu. You can find it at http://www.drvinyl.com/hawaii/ourhawaii.htm. Unfortunately, I don't have anything on the neighbor islands yet.

Hope this helps.

Aloha,
Norm

Our family made its first trip to Hawaii last summer, we chose Maui for 1 week. It was absolutely tremendous, a lot to see and do and so beautiful. I would highly recommend it.

Hi Bryan,

I have just returned from Honolulu and Maui and had previous visits to kauai and the Big Island.

For me, Maui would be my first to visit. Although there are many things to do, you can just as easily choose to do nothing. Maui has great beaches, lots of restaurants and good golfing (I hear). Kauai is very laid back, and not doing much comes naturally. Volcano National Park on the Big Island (Hilo side) is something like no other place. And, even though you're not into night-life and may choose to skip Waikiki, I would plan to spend a day or so on Oahu and take in Pearl Harbor.

I believe most major airlines fly into Maui and Kona (at least from the west coast) as well as Oahu, so that might help with your decision.

No matter which order you choose, you will have a wonderful time.

janet
