Which island for R&R?
 

Everyone has been so helpful with my last information request and now I need help narrowing down a place to spend 2 nights for some R&R.

The plan now is to land in Seattle and have our car by around noon. We thought we would spend some time that afternoon in Edmonds looking around and then driving onto Bellingham for 2 nights exploring the area.

Here is my question. We would like to visit one of the islands in the San Juans for a couple of days, spending 2 nights to just decompress from our stressful jobs. We would like someplace to do some easy hiking, nature walks and to stay somewhere that we might have a balcony or someplace to sit outside, drink some wine and read.

Any suggestions?

Probably Orcas or San Juan Island (Friday Harbor) would be best for you.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been looking at Orcas and I think that's the one. I loved it when I visited many, many years ago. At that time, we camped at Doe Bay which was a fun experience, but sure wouldn't want to do that now!

After much investigation, we've decided this trip is way too short to go to all the places we want to visit. The time involved getting to Orcas seems like too much for this trip, although I do love taking the ferries. I think for our R&R, we're going to spend 2 nights at Salish Lodge & Spa since it's so much closer to Seattle.

I think that's a good plan. Whidbey Island would be another easier option than the San Juans. Rushing around in order to "relax" probably doesn't work out so well -haha. best, suze
