Which is the best option for 6-hours drive nearby Dallas?

Hi All, I will stay in Dallas for about 1 month. During this month, I'd like to travel around here with my friends.

This weekend we'd like to drive near dallas. The distance should not exceeds 6-hours drive. Current I have the option to visit Hot Spring National Park and Little Rock, we will stay 1 night during the travel.

However, this may not be the best option. We prefer to visit some nature beauty spot or American countries. Could you please give me some suggestions?

Thanks in advance...

We have been to Houston, Austin. The option can be Austin, Guadalupe State Park, Louisiana, etc. Your suggestions are appreciated.

All of the Texas Hill Country is beautiful and within your six-hour driving limit. There are some neat towns and great countryside and backroads to explore.

There's Garner State Park, where you can rent tubes and float down the Comal River, and there's a jukebox dance every Friday night in the park that is really something to see. There are plenty of lodging options in near the park.

Also is in area are: Luckenbach, famous hangout of Willie Nelson and many other cosmic cowboy types; Fredericksburg, cutsie German town; Gruene, with its famous old dance hall; Sclitterbahn water park in New Braunfels, once voted best water park in the U.S. by the Travel Channel.

There are also a number of caverns in the area, including one at Longhorn State Park as well as Natural Bridge Caverns and The Cave Without a Name.

The Hill Country is great for back roads driving, so you definitely want to take some non-freeway routes from Dallas to enjoy such a road trip. I would recommend a really good map and/or a GPS.
