Which hotel would you pick in Vegas?

About us:

We try to go to Vegas every year in Jan or Feb.

We would like to try a different hotel each time.

We've already stayed at:

Luxor (3 times)
Bellagio
Treasure Island
MGM (west wing)
Excalibur (bad experience)

We like to stay on the strip.

Price is not a big deal (we've been lucky with hotel comps for stays most years)

We like a bit of romance but don't like it too quiet.

I like a great spa (massage, manicures, pedicures)

Please if you have had a good experience with a certain hotel let me know!

Wynn

Also, Venetian

Wynn!
Venetian has big rooms but they are in dire need of renovation.
I have stayed at the Wynn many times and when you sign up for their e-mail..great deals..$119 a night for a resort room.
This is a gorgeous hotel and the rooms are lovely.

Thanks for the 2 replys. I am kinda on the same track and did go ahead & sign up for wynn promotions.

I have 2 questions, did you feel Wynn was close enough to the action? Last year we visited to have a look and it just seemed out of reach of everything. Please give me your opinion because I would really like to stay there!

Also, Venetian's website says that the rooms have been renovated - do you think that's right? From your comments I assume you've been there recently? I really do want to hear opinions because I can't stand a shabby hotel room. Thanks in advance.

We love the Venetian! Try the newest tower. We also have had great luck at the Mirage in the tower rooms. Don't opt for a volcano view. It's not worth the price. We stayed there for a week and when we checked out we were comped for three nights and paid casino rate ($79) for the other two. Our traveling companions were comped for the entire stay. My husband and his friends like to play table games and their rate of play helped, but they don't bet big hands (average $15). We have also stayed at the Rio several times. Although it's not on the strip it provides a complimentary shuttle to the strip so you can be there in no time. It puts you out between Harrahs and the Paris which are all owned by the same company. Comps at the Rio are also very good and the casino is not as stuffy as the Venetian or the Belagio.

The Venetian has Canyon Ranch Spa. I go there even when I'm not staying at the Venetian.

We liked the Flamingo - I know, I know it's old. The location on the strip is good, when you walk out of the casino-you're right on the sidewalk and the pool is great.

Hi LilyLace..
I found the Wynn to be in an great location and in Jan/Feb it's still very cold..just got back last week and it was 42 degrees.
New is key in Vegas..
Did you try Expedia? I find some great deals with them or direct.
If you want to try a new Hotel, Wynn is incredible and I cannot say enough what kind of place this is!
Don't wait for the e-mail special.
It might take a month or two.

For a moderate hotel, I would pick Flamingo or Bally's as the location of both is great. If you could get a good deal: Wynn, Bellagio or Venetian in that order.

Thank you all! I'll let you know what we end up with! It is going to be either Wynn or Venetian for sure!

Lizaj1: I saw the Spa listed. Do they have separate woman/man areas like some do? I like that best if it's possible.

Another rec. for Venetian. I stay there (when I am not at The Four Seasons - the choice for me depends on the reason for the trip). The last time I went with the girls for spa time and fun, we stayed at The Venetian. We had a terrific time. I have not stayed at the Wynn though others have brought back good reports. Let us know....

I'll throw in another one to think about: Caesar's Palace. You really can't beat the center Strip location! Be sure and book either the Palace or Augustus Tower. Those are the newest and nicest. Their spa is really nice, too!

Lauricelli Dec 30th, 2007 11:43 AM

What about Mandalay Bay? I know they have a good spa but I haven't been there in about 4 years. Is Mandalay tired now? I thought their rooms were great. Comfortable beds etc.

I didn't like Caesar's Palace. It's so gargantuan now you feel like you'll never get out of there.

We stayed at Mirage 2 years ago with a special for a Junior Suite and it was very nice. They've done a lot of updating too. I still think about the Italian restaurant with the expresso/Sambuca ice cream. mmmm

dawnnoelm Dec 30th, 2007 11:46 AM

I have heard good things about "the Hotel" at the Mandalay - never stayed there myself but it is suppose to be very nice.

We always stay at the Ventian and have had good luck with our rooms.

I have stayed at the Belliago and that was very nice as well

Dh has got to stay at the Wynn on business and raved about it. Even if you do not stay there I highly recommend dining there - what a treat.

Question for Maryann-
When did you stay at the Flamingo last? We like the location also and have booked a room for March mainly b/c I was told (by them) that all of the rooms were renovated in 2007. Would you say that's accurate?

lizaj1 Jan 5th, 2008 02:42 PM

LilyLace, Canyon Ranch has separate areas for men and women. Depending on the time of year and nationality of the clients you could find women in all states of undress. Just go with it and have a good time, bathing suit or not for the wet room. Of course you are supplied a generous spa robe. However, I didn't see any private dressing rooms which I prefer.

Little_Man Jan 5th, 2008 08:45 PM

Wynn or Palazzo

LilyLace Jan 6th, 2008 05:45 AM

Thanks everyone! I have not booked yet because we may need to change our date by a week or 2. I'll let you know.

I'm happy to hear that the spa is separated. I don't mind the textile free as long as everyone is the same sex!
