which hotel on oahu?

My Boyfriend and I (we're 22 and 24) are going to Oahu in June after I graduate. My father is paying for the trip but I don't want him to break the bank. I've been looking at so many hotels I'm lost. How are the queen's surf waikiki grand, waikiki shore, queen kapiolani? Any suggestions for decently priced hotel that is nice and near the beach?

Waikiki is a strip about 1 1/2 miles long and 3-4 blocks wide. So there is no place in Waikiki that is too far from the beach.

Also restaurants & shops located throughout Waikiki so you are never far from them.

Oahana Hotels are OK & inexpensive as are the ones you mentioned

Some on this forum like the Hawaiiana.

Lots of hotel choices to compare:

www.hawaii-hotels.com Scroll to the bottom & where it says VISIT, click on Oahu hotels or Oahu condos.

Another good resource with ratings and opinions of hotels is : www.tripadvisor.com.
I like the Ohana hotels, and for condos Patrick Winston rentals. My mom really liked the condo like hotel units at the Ilima.

The Breakers or the Hawaiiana Hotel on BeachWalk are very nice, about 3 blocks from the beach. Smaller and more unique than those you mention, but I don't think too much more money.

My mom stayed at the Breakers also back in the 80's, and really liked it. I took pictures of it for her 3 years ago, and she said it looked the same. :-)
