Which Hotel in San Francisco

I'm having difficulty deciding where to stay in SF. I have narrowed it down to 3 - The Ramada Plaza, The Carlton and The Chancellor. Can anyone recommend any of these hotels? Which one is best? Cheers!

Which Ramada? If on Market @9th the area is not safe.

Carlton is OK, safe, but kinda far from everything.

Location-wise I'd pick the Chancellor.

I stayed at the Chancellor a couple of years ago and loved it. The location was great for public transportation with the streetcar line right in front, the rail station a couple of blocks south and major bus lines a couple of blocks east. Having Union Square right outside the door also came in handy for middle of the day breaks and dropping off purchases. The room was smallish but very clean, and the pillow menu was wonderful (we tried out quite a few of them). The only drawback was the noise from the streetcar that could be heard clearly all the way up on the seventh floor (my earplugs were lifesavers!). I would stay there again on my next trip to San Francisco. Have fun!

Regalada, sorry, by "train station" do you mean BART - light rail or Amtrak - bus station? Just curious.

Bart.

For the bus, city buses going to the Golden Gate and Chinatown, for instance, stopped on a corner a couple of blocks away from the Chancellor.

If you are on a budget, check www.biddingfortravel.com and bid on Priceline. You will get a nicer hotel for less.
