Which hotel in ny city?

My wife & I will be staying 3 nights in manhattan. We don't want to pay Pierre/Plaza prices. Can anyone suggest a hotel with good price and good location? I've come up with the Mayflower, the Salisbury, & Helmsley Windsor. Any info on these three, particularly the Windsor, or any others in the same area? Thanks

Can't help you with any of those three, but we did spend four night at the Wellington Hotel (about 8th Ave. and 55th street) last summer. It is not the Waldorf--nothing fancy, but it was clean and comfortable, and the people at the front desk could not have been more helpful. We had two bedrooms and one bath (three people) for $145.00 a nite. We were within walking distance of Central Park, Times Square, Carnegie Hall, Radio City, Braodway shows.,etc. We were really happy with the location--we walked around at all areas and never felt unsafe.

Here are some inexpensive yet comfortable and safe options: the Algonquin in mid-town on 43rd Street near Madison Ave. (212 840 6800); Grammercy Park Hotel on Lexington Ave in Grammercy Park area (800 221 4083).

Steve, My wife and I have stayed at both the Salisbury and Windsor. The Windsor (we stayed there two weeks ago) is a woderful hotel run by Leona Helmsley who, no matter what they may say about her, runs an excellent hotel. It is well located on 58th St and 6th Ave. The rooms are well kept and appointed with all the ammenities. There is a continental breakfast. the Salisbury, where we will be saying in 2 weeks, is on 57th between 6th and 7th Aves. Also a very nice hotel. Take a back room because 57th St is a busy street with traffic noise. The rooms are on a par with the Windsor, but the breakfast is better
your choice.....can't go wrong with either

My husband & I stayed at the newly rennovated Roosevelt Hotel on 45th & Madison. Location is great and the hotel is really beautiful!!! Service was impeccable! They have just completed a 65 million dollar rennovation, so everything is so clean and the hotel has been restored to its natural beauty. I believe they are running a special now for $119.00 per night. Check out their website, www.theroosevelthotel.com You can get quotes online. I think you can't go wrong at this great find!!!!!! Gigi

A great place to stay is the Wyndam hotel. I do not have the exact address right now, but I think it
is on 88th or 89th street. It's right across the street and down a short distance from the Plaza hotel. It's quiet, reasonable and the rooms are bright, spacious and clean. It's wonderful. I have stayed there with my husband and with some friends on a shopping trip. It does not have room service, but anything you may want is extremely close. Since the street it is on is not a large, busy one, getting in and out is never a problem.

Try the Wolcott. It has a web site. Great price, great location, but not very fancy. If you plan on spending alot of time in the room, this place is not for you. If ya'll will be out on the town, then this is the place for you. Great location, 1 block from Empire St. Bldg. Have a great trip. We were there at X-Mass and it was great.
