this info is available in great detail at places like lvol.com and cheapovegas.com.....AND in the archives here (type in monte carlo in the text search box, you'll get oodles of reviews).

Monte Carlo hands down.

Bally's if you love Atlantic City.
I've stayed at both and would say Monte Carlo hands down. It is much newer and nicer. Ballys has the monorail to MGM so if you plan to spend a lot of time there, you may want to stay at Ballys...but otherwise, Monte Carlo is in a nice location and has a very low-key atmosphere.

Can't comment on the pools...I spend all my time gambling!

We had a much nicer room at Bally's and it's a better location. The tub at Monte Carlo had mildew all around it. Yuck.

Just posted a response to a similar message.. Both your choices are good ones. Check out the website: "cheapovegas.com. It will provide you with some details about both hotels. I've stayed at both, and on the basis of your criteria, I'd go with Bally's, but not by much. I found the rooms comparable; MC rates the better pool; (while I prefer MC's casino, I greatly value Bally's connection to Paris where I find superior dining choices) For me, the deciding difference however, is Bally's premo strip location..

Either one will be a good choice, so go with your first inclination, keep an open mind and you can have a great time!

Monte Carlo! The pools are great. There's a lazy river, a wave pool, and a couple other pools.

Hmm, I've stayed at the Monte Carlo many times and have never had a dirty room. I guess anything can happen anywhere in isolated cases.

I like MC's location -- next door to NYNY, across the street from MGM. There is a monorail from MC to Bellagio that runs much more frequently than the one between Bally's and MGM (plus for that one you have to walk about 50 miles through MGM to get to/from the station.)

If you monorail over to Bellagio, then you're across the street from Caesar's and Bally's. Then from those you're right at Paris/Mirage/etc.

The other nice thing about MC is that if you go the other way, you're next door to NYNY, then can cross Tropicana Blvd and take the monorail to Luxor and Mandalay Bay. (You're also right at the Trop and Excalibur at that corner, but I don't like either one of those -- esp. hate Excalibur).

Monte Carlo has more "atmosphere," if you care about that. The public areas (casino, shops, etc) feel more elegant than Bally's.

Both places have great locations that make them convenient to a lot of other things. Though I haven't stayed at Bally's, I have friends and family who have and they have been satisfied with it. It's an older hotel, but the people I know say the rooms are pretty big. I would probably go for whichever has better rates for the date you're looking at.

Monte Carlo

To totally confuse you...have you looked into Paris? It is attached to Bally's but rooms are much better than the other two and depending on when you are going, can offer good rates with a AAA discount.
