Which hotel do you recommend?
 

We will be visiting Boston Oct. 14-17. I have narrowed it down to the Lenox, the Marlowe, and Wyndham on Broad (I know all different locations!). Would like a very clean, upscale hotel in a nice, safe area near the T. Originally thought the Marlowe sounded really fun, but have some second thoughts about convenience to the T. It seems like the Lenox is very convenient, but is it worth the extra $50 a night? The Wyndham is the best price ($80 less than the Marlowe, and $130 less than the Lenox) but I am concerned about mixed reviews pertaining to early morning noise from construction and questionable safety walking from the T to the hotel at night (we will be traveling with our children). Any comments are greatly appreciated!

I'm confused about those prices. And, what construction? If you mean the "big dig", there's no early morning noise anywhere the Wyndham, to my knowledge.

Though in the Financial District which is "very quiet" at night and on weekends, the location is perfectly safe for walking at night. You haven't mentioned how many children, but the savings would more than cover a lot of (relatively short) taxi rides if you can all fit into one cab.

The Marlowe is a short walk from Lechmere T station (about .2 mile). Does the Marlowe offer complimentary shuttle service?

Best bet would be to get a one-page map of Boston and highlight the places you plan to go during your visit. If you'll be going all over, it won't matter much. The waterfront, Faneuil Hall/Quincy Marketplace are a hike from the Lenox, Copley Square is a hike from the Wyndham.

The Lenox is definitely convenient for the hop on/hop off trolley tours, Duck Tour (they depart almost next door)

I agree, get a map of downtown Boston; you'll need it eventually anyway. If possible, get one with the subway stations and lines drawn right on it.

The T (subway) stop at Lechmere is closed for renovations, as is the next one down the line, at Science Park. There's a shuttle bus substitution, but it's a big pain in the neck, rendering the Marlowe not a good choice for tourists using the T.

I think it depends on your itinerary. The Marlowe is in Cambridge -- but, the T line in that area is now closed down for renovations. The Wyndham is in a location more favored by business travelers -- you can walk to Fanueil Hall and the Aquarium, but not really in close proximity to other things you may do. The Lenox is close to lots of restaurants, shopping, etc., as well as the closest of the three to the T, so it would get my vote.

I was just in Boston last week and walked right by the lenox. Infact- i was booked there but then changed to the Hilton wanting to be close to the airport. I would definalty consider the Lenox. Great location in my opinion. I walked in the lobby and found it to be quite charming.

Thanks for the input. It sounds like the Lenox is conveniently located. Has anyone ever stayed there? Are the rooms worth the price?
