Which hotel

Hey there - I am traveling to Las Vegas June 7th - 10th and am trying to locate a hotel room. I will be traveling with my husband, and 15 month old son, plus my husbands Grandmother who is 80. We will be needing 2 seperate rooms, and I will be paying for both rooms, so I need to keep the costs down as reasonable as possible. After searching the internet, I have come up with these options. Does anyone have any recommendations or opinions for us? We are expecting to just walk up and down the strip each day and check out the different hotels/casinos. Maybe spend some time in the pool to let the baby play.
Aladdin (347 + tax), Monte Carlo (330 + tax), Treasure Island (377 + tax), Flaminigo (255 + tax), or Tropicana (203 + tax).

Thanks so much!

I think Flamingo probably has the most central location, but the rooms are not supposed to be very fancy (I'll find out how un-fancy next week!). However, the pool is supposed to be top notch.

Treasure Island is also a nice location - take the tram (free) to the Mirage, and you can also walk to Bellagio and Venetian.

I wouldn't stay at Aladdin - didn't really care for the location, and there was a lot of construction going on just outside (in March) that was a pain to walk around.

My favorite site for comparing hotels is www.cheapovegas.com - they cover all the details.

Have a fun trip!

For what it's worth, the best overall location on the strip is the Paris/Bally's/Bellagio/Aladdin block.

I agree with rwilliams, especially since the trams are not running due to renovations. We stayed at Ballys last month, were upgraded to a tower room & it was lovely. Call the hotel directly & ask for any promotional rates.

How about if I add Luxor to the mix? I can get it for 217 + tax, so it would be really economical. Would that be a good thing?

I recommend the Flamingo. It fits many of your preferences. In terms of checking out the various strip hotels/casinos, the Flamingo will provide an ideal location, within a modest budget, yet a superior pool area. The walks in June heat however, may be a bit much for an 80 year old. The hotel/casios are huge and thus the walk between them can be considerable. My advice is to embark upon a direction (north or south, but not both); cross the strip, and return. Another day, go the opposite direction. Check out cheapovegas.com. They have good reviews on all Las Vegas strip properties, a map and generally useful information. It will give you some idea of what you might expect or wish to see.

Average daily high temp in June is 99, so watch out for granny while walking the strip. The distances are surprisingly long. They don't appear to be, though. The hotels are so huge that they distort your perception of distance. The main strip is about 3.5 miles long, so not something you want to walk when it's 99 degrees out with an unfiltered blazing sun overhead.

If you can get the Paris that would be great. My other choices would be Aladdin or Monte Carlo. We took my daughter at that age. Grandma would have been more work.

Julie,

Luxor is near the south end of the strip, therefore I would not recommend it. My choice would be the Flamingo for it's central strip location.

I also agree that Luxor is not a good choice for walking up and down the strip. Grandma would be tired just getting to NY NY, never mind all the other ones down the street. I stayed at the Flamingo a few years ago. I've heard the rooms aren't as nice now, but it was then. It was large and pretty with aqua and peach colors. Also, great location to walk in either direction.
