Transportation from Fort Worth TX Airport to Convention Center?

I'm trying to plan my husbands travel arrangements for a conference in September. If he stays in a hotel near the conference, there will be complimentary transport from the hotel to the conference. However, he feels he will need to rent a car so he has transportation to and from the airport. Can anyone please advise which is the most cost effective: taxi, airport shuttle, or rental car between the airport & convention center hotels?

Thank you!!

Ps. I've never been there, so I really have no idea of the distance between the two.

Check these two links out.

www.dart.org (click on the Trinity Railway Express)

He can take a taxi, take a shuttle, rent a car or take the Trinity Railway Express (TRE). (Hotel would probably pick up from the downtown TRE station).

I imagine renting a car w/b the least cost effective, and the TRE w/b the cheapest, but possibly the most time consuming.

The first link gives good advice. Looks like there is a shuttle to downtown hotels for a resonable price.
