Which gulf coast resort?

I'm looking for a good family resort on the gulf side of Florida. Can someone help?

Well, I think without question the highest rated is the Ritz in Naples, but the Don Ceasar in St. Pete Beach, the Coconut Point at Estero, South Seas Plantation at Captiva, and the Naples Grand all come to mind as well.

What specific things are you looking for and how much do you want to spend? Also when?

Thanks for the reply,NeoPatrick. I'm looking for a medium priced family resort with lots of pools and maybe a lazy river, kinda like the ones we go to in Myrtle Beach. We can only go in August.Thinking of flying from Pa. to maybe Tampa and renting a car from there.

OK, now I have a better idea of what you're looking for. But I can't think of anything quite like that (especially the lazy river part) on the Gulf Coast. Anyone?

Hey. What about in the Panhandle? Maybe the Sandestin Resort in Destin?

If you are using Tampa as your jumping off point, you might look into the Tradewinds in St. Pete Beach. There are a couple of pools and more of a small stream, not a river where you can foot paddle around in.

My friend bought a timeshare at Hyatt Bonita Springs and said it was fabulous. It seems to have many pool options so maybe what you are looking for?

ckman - the property you have in mind (complete with a lazy river) is the Hyatt in Bonita Springs. As for it being moderately priced - not to sure on that end, but you could try??? Remember, August is when everyone is there! Referring to NeoPatrick - I've been to all the properties he mentioned and by far - Ritz is aces with my family with the Don Cesar coming in second!!!

I had forgotten that they added a Hyatt Vacation Club at the Coconut Point Resort (I call it Estero, but their official address is Bonita Springs). I believe that guests can use the pool facilities of either. Here's a website and you can do a virtual tour and see a lot of pictures:
