Which Disneyland Resort had better pool/waterslide?
We're debating between Paradise Pier and Grand Californian. Our first criteria is the pool. We have two kids (9 and 11) and having a fun slide is priority. Second priority is quality of hotel. It seemed that the PP and GC were higher end than the Disneyland hotel. Am I right? Given that, which hotel would you recommend?

Regardless of merits of its pool or pools or waterslides, the Grand Californian is a gorgeous hotel (I've attended a conference there) and I would stay there without hesitation. It's expensive, but seems worth every penny.

I'd say who cares about the water slides - The Grand Californian is the ONLY place to stay if you can afford it. Totally agree w/ rjw_lgb_ca

Hmmm.... I would have said that in terms of quality the Grand Californian was first, the Disneyland Hotel was second and Paradise Pier was third. The best pools are at the Grand Californian. Would suggest the Grand Californian if in your price bracket. Otherwise, I'd choose the Disneyland Hotel over the Paradise Pier.

We stayed at the DL hotel last August and loved it. Very convenient to BOTH parks, and monorail to DL and OK restaurants. Getting in and out is easy. We don't really care much about the room, hardly there. We came back and took a nap and it was great for that. Very relaxing.
We didn't eat there but we did eat at the GC and were very dissappointed in our meal and the gouging. At DL the Downtown Disney restaurants are very easy to walk to. Make reservations for dinner at night b/c the places get so crowded. That was why we got stuck eating at the GC place. My kids are a little older and weren't intereted in the pools. We spent ALL day at the park. The pool looked nice but crowded with little kids. |
The hierarchy of hotel class goes Grand Californian-Paradise Hotel-DL Hotel. That said, I think the pool at DL Hotel is the most fun for kids. The Grand is right on downtown Disney, so I have no idea what Heavens is talking about. Actually the Paradise Pier has the least convenient location. The restaurants are worst at Paradise Pier, I like Hook's Point at DL Hotel and all of the restaurants at GC (Storyteller Cafe is the moderate priced sitdown restaurant that does all three meals, including a character breakfast). Food is not a bargain anywhere at the resort.
