Which Disney. LA or Florida ?
 

My family and I (2 adults, 2 children aged 5 and 10 )are from England and we would like to visit Disneyland / world. We would come for around 10 - 14 days and we can't decide whether to go to LA or Florida. Any thoughts??? Thank you !

Florida woul d be closer to you and it's more fun. More to do than in CA.

A few more details would help us help you such as ...<BR>What time of the year are you coming?<BR>Will you be in the same area for the whole 2 weeks?<BR><BR>S. California has so much more (IMHO) than Florida, for non-Disney days. Also, if you are coming during the summer. Florida's humidity can be stifling.<BR><BR>

Disney World in Florida is much bigger and has much more to offer than Disneyland.

IF you want the best Disney experience, then Florida is the way to go.<BR>

Disneyland in California is easy to do in a day or two, and then you have the rest of California to enjoy. Florida is much less varied (although there are very nice beaches about two hours from Orlando)and the heat and humidity in summer are highly discouraging.

I cant comment about DisneyLand, as I have never been to the one in CALIF..now the one in FL.. LOL - I live about 2 hours from Orlando and recommend it highly. There are also, EPCOT, MGM, and ANIMAL KINGDOM. You also have Universal Stutios and Islands of Adventure. And SeaWorld too!<BR>As you can tell, My vote is for FLorida!<BR>Have a Wonderful vacation, whatever you decide to do!

Thank you for all your advice. It is still difficult to make up our mind, but the humidity factor may swing it for LA. !!We will come in the summer - July time

Walt Disney World has many more theme parks, available under one pass with transportation. However, as mentioned there is less to do outside of WDW. In California there are really only 2 Disney parks but much more to do outside of the Disney stuff. There are also other theme parks and activities by other companies i.e. Magic Mountain, Knott's Berry Farm, Medieval Times, Universal Studies (I know there is one in FL too but many more movies are made in CA) and some water parks close. Plus California has more to offer in things to do aside from theme parks - museums, beaches, shopping. <BR><BR>As mentioned the weather would certainly play a factor - I can not imagine going to Florida in July. We live in Oregon, which has similar weather to England and the humidity and heat would make us miserable. California is warm but without the humidity. <BR><BR>One last thing, Disneyland (in CA) and Magic Kingdom (WDW, FLorida) are the same park but I much prefer the one in California. It feels cleaner and the people are friendlier. Plus it is fun to see where it all started.

Blimey! Don't EVER go to Florida in July as it is a KILLER! And in California you have the beautiful coastline to drive down and explore during your breaks from Disneyland. And don't forget Legoland in Carlsbad, too!

Annette, You could easily spend 10-14 days at Fl disney world and not get bored as there is so much to do it would take that long to see everything. LA disney land is a one or two day event. Yes the Florida summers are hot but there are plenty of ways to combat the heat and still have fun. I am probably biased since I live in Florida though.

California is the original. You can only do Disney for so long and then you need a change. The coast of Ca. has a lot to offer. North to Santa Barbara and San Francisco or south to San Diego and Sea World. The weather in July in CA is great.

Go to Eurodisney in France and save your visit to the US for when you can enjoy its natural beauties with the children.

I live in So Cal, and I would say it really depends on how much Disney you think you can tolerate. Disneyland/California Adventures has a two day pass that allows you entrance into both parks - and that is truly all you need. But, as has been stated, we also have Knott's, several water parks, Universal Studios, and, for a nice drive along the coast, Seaworld. There is just so much to do here, especially with children the age of yours.<BR><BR>July weather in So Calif can be hot, and we do get periodic humidity, but not nearly as bad as in the Southeast. Temps will be in the 80s, maybe 90s.<BR><BR>If you decide to go to Calif for 10-14 days, I would recommend staying someplace close to Disneyland for roughly half of that time, and then stay in San Diego for the remainder. <BR><BR>Now, this is unless you want to do Disney for the entire 2 weeks. Just can't do that at Disneyland.
