Which Destination?
We have Frequent Flyer tickets and are trying to decide on the following destinations for next year. Of these places, which would be your first choice?
Puerto Rico Cancun, Cozumel, Tulume The Cayman Islands St. Thomas Costa Rica We are also open to any and all suggestions. Thanks so much in advance. Happy New Year. |
My choice would be Cayman Islands as we are going there in April.
But what would be your first choice? What are you looking for, whar are you interested in? Give as some clues |
Your decision may be partly made for you by airline if you have certain level of FF miles and dates are not flexible - availability of FF tickets sometimes effects our decisions on where to go.

I hear Costa Rica is wonderful but I haven't been. A lot depends on what you like.

I agree it depends partly on where you can get to when you want to go based on airline availability, as well as how much time you have & what you want to do. (Are you looking for laid back lounging or adventurous/athletic activities?)
I've been to Puerto Rico twice & would love to go again. It's a large island with a variety of geography & lots to see & do; could easily spend a couple of weeks here going from location to location. Beaches, snorkeling, hiking in the rainforest, etc. Walking thru Old San Juan is very cool. Went to Cancun/Cozumel once & visited Tulume; it was good but not something I'd go back to. I've been to St. T a couple of times and love the VI's; unbelievable beaches, good shopping, mountains, great people. Would strongly encourage you to consider 'island hopping' -- Go to St. T, take day trips to nearby St. John & Tortolla, consider a few days in Virgin Gorda & perhaps St. Croix. Could get a captain & sail around the islands...that would be awesome IMO. That would be my first choice. :0) |
Costa Rica would be my first choice. But, our trips there have been busy. Lots of moving around and traveling to different areas. We loved it, but it might not be the type of trip you're looking for.

Do you have to be really adventurous to go to Costa Rica?
Is it more of an active vacation? |
Costa Rica!!
You can be as adventurous or relaxed as you like. Costa Rica is a beautiful country with alot to see and do. On the other hand, if you want to lounge around - why not do so in a beautiful setting. We really enjoyed our 2 weeks in Costa Rica and look forward to a return trip! |
