Which coast in Kauai for families?
For those in the know, which area in Kauai would you recommend we stay in--Poipu Beach, Coconut Coast, North Coast? It will be our first time and we're travelling with two little kids.
Also, which of the condos do you recommend? We've done the big resorts in Maui and the Big Island, and now we want to try family-friendly condos in Kauai. We're looking at the Embassy Vacation Resort in Poipu, the Pono Kai and the Kauai Coast Resort in Kapaa and the Kauai Beach Villa in Lihue. We prefer condos with aircon and beach access and pools for kids. Will it be a stretch to hope for maid and towel service? Thanks for your input. |
Clarification--that's the Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy in Kapaa.

Also take into consideration what time of year you'll be visiting our island -- winter makes the north shore wet, and the east side wild. Winter surf conditions start building by October, and begin diminishing in May.

We will be going in the summer of 2005.

On the east side I like Kauai Coast Resort waaaaaay much better than Pono Kai and Kauai Beach Villas.
Embassy Vacation Resort has a nice pool, pretty grounds, and spacious units. I also like Kiahuna Plantation on the south side for sprawling lawns, ocean front location, however they do not have a/c. Poipu Kapili on the south side is luxurious, one of the nicest condo complexes on Kauai. |
Thanks for your input. Other suggestions?

Poipu- the others aren't even close.

Okay, I'm leaning toward the Embassy because it's on Poipu. Looks like on the east shore, Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy wins.

Hope I'm not too late to reply..........You have to do the Kauai Beach Resort. It is only awesome. Stayed there in June. Love Poipu also but remember.....it's a small island. Takes only 40 mins or less to go from Kapaa to Poipu. Have fun.
