If you're looking for a fun time, go with Mama Mia (if you can get tickets) or the Full Monty.

I can't believe no one has suggested Phantom of the Opera. I know it has been around for awhile, but for someone who has never been to Broadway, it is the best. Wonderful music, costumes and scenery. I found Contact depressing. Chicago is terrific, and so is Cabaret. Saw Urinetown and Noises Off this past week. Urinetown is quirky but a lot of energy. Noises Off is like a Rube Goldberg puzzle-an exercise in timing. If you like slap stick, you'll like it. Momma Mia great music and energy. Have fun.

Just back from six nights in NYC (and a show practically every night!) We saw Mama Mia and The Full Monty and both were great! Our Full Monty performance included several understudy substitutions and it was still great. If I had to pick, I'd probably go with Mama Mia for the music and overall content. Have a great time!

Leslie, sounds like you had a great time! We are planning a trip and will also be in NYC 6 nights, do you mind if I ask how you booked your theater? I'm asking because 6 nights of shows can be expensive and I'm trying to make it (finacially) possible for us - I've registered at Playbill.com and theatermania.com and I am aware of TKTS, but . . any tips you have to offer would be appreciated!

You could always try to get tickets to the Graduate which opens next week. You can decide how they failed. Kathleen Turner should be and could be fabulous, but isn't----poor direction??? Alissa Silverstone...well she shows us what her range is...or did the direction fail again...? Jason Biggs, well now we have something---the new Matthew Broderick? He's wonderful and shows he has what it takes...American Pie----buh bye. So if you want to have an interesting night with enough holes in a play to get you thru dessert conversation...Go see the Graduate, otherwise hit one of the big ones--Phantom, Aida, Producers.............
