Where would you go - Northeast/Mid-Atlantic getaway

Can't go til middle of October - but would like a recommendation on a nice getaway - colors will be gone in Vermont - how about Bucks County -- have never been there -- just looking to relax - walk - eat....

I would still consider Vermont but maybe southern to central area. Check a schedule of events. The Keene NH Pumpkin Festival is Oct 22. I think there's some scarecrow festivals around. We've seen pretty good color in Rhode Island as late as Oct 23 and there are wonderful towns there like Tiverton. If I were in southern NH's Monadnock Region I would aim for Peterborough, browse thru the Toadstool bookstore and then walk across the street for some great food. The diner is great too. Then enjoy some early gift shopping in the arts and craft gallery.

Thanks for the suggestion - We just came thru that area on our way home from Maine but really didn't stop to ck it out -- Sounds like a plan....

Bucks County is beautiful that time of year. I'd recommend spending time in New Hope and Peddler's Village.

I think deep down, I really want to try Bucks County -- Do you have any further recommendations about it - like accommodations (Inn, hotel/motel)? - I've read a lot about restaurants, but haven't really seen anything about places to stay......
