Where would I find the best steak in Oklahoma City?
 

I will be visiting Oklahoma City this weekend and I would like to know a few really good places to eat and, where I can find the best steak in the city. Thanks.

Any Outback Steakhouse mate

Outback is a national chain. It's ok for a chain, but if I was going to the midwest, I'd want an aged beef steak from a local establishment. <BR><BR>Some of my suggestions would include Cattlemen's Steakhouse & Deep Fork Grill.

Boulevard Steakhouse in Edmond<BR>Hands down<BR>

I've heard Deep Fork Grill is very good, and Mickey Mantle's steakhouse.

I second the vote for Blvd. Steakhouse in Edmond. Very $$$$$. If you're looking for something less pricey, then Cattlemens is good too. Forget Outback!

Junior's is a GREAT old-school style steak house leftover from the oil boom days. The address is: 2601 NW Expressway, OKC. It's in the bottom of a building called the Oil Center Building. Kind of pricey, but well worth it. If you order a Ceasar salad, they actually make the Ceasar dressing fresh at your table while you watch. DELICIOUS!! It's a hoot, too, to see how the fat cat oil barons used to live back in the day. The decor is something along the lines of JR Ewing meets Tony Soprano.<BR><BR>Also, don't know if you'll have a car at your disposal or not, but there's another great steakhouse just south of OKC (actually located in the suburb of Norman, OK) called Indian Hills Steakhouse. It's about a 30 minute drive from downtown OKC. Just a straight shot down I-35. Don't know the address, but you could call 411 and get the number.<BR><BR>Good luck and happy eating!<BR>Jennie

The Ranch is also good for steaks.

If you like your steaks with a classy setting and an All-American theme, try Mickey Mantle's Steakhouse in Bricktown. Great location, great decor and jazz, and exceptional food.

If you are looking for the best steak you've ever had (meaning the quality of the beef, not the fancy sides or spices), you MUST go to Cattleman's Steakhouse. It's located in the historic Stockyards part OKC - the cows are born &amp; raised just around the corner. The clientelle is mixed - from well-to-do high fashion types to Wrangers and Ropers (aka boots &amp; jeans). I don't mean to sound like an advertisement, but I was just there last weekend, and you forget how good it really is until go you back.

Longhorn makes a good quality steak for the money. Give them a try.

We went to Cattleman's in November and were sorely disappointed.
I read and read about places to eat while there, and thought it was THE place for steaks.
We were really excited when we first got there because the place was jam-packed with all kinds of folks, looked like it had been there forever, and we just loved the old-timey atmosphere.
We had to wait forever in a jammed up little space and bellow to get a beer, and were finally seated at a table where the door hit the back of my husband's side of the booth and a cold gust of wind came in every time the door opened from outside.
I had to literally fight my way to the bathroom and back.
BUT, all of this would have been acceptable had the food and service been good.
Neither were.
Steak was way too done (ordered it medium rare) and had to be sent back. I NEVER do that. By the time I got my new (cold) steak that another waiter had to bring, my husband was finished with his entire meal.
No one ever said thanks, and then we had to fight to get out of the place and out the door.
We will go back to OKC but not to Cattleman's.
(Of course, since this thread is almost a year old, I guess &quot;me&quot; already chose a place!)

Several work colleagues went to Cattleman's last year and they were also disappointed. They told me to avoid it when I had to go to OKC on business. I was there in December and went to Mickey Mantle's. It was excellent and I would highly recommend it.

Another restaurant that is a quiet favorite of locals and new residents (once they hear about it) is the Deep Fork Grill on N. Western, in OKC's Restaurant Row. It's known more for its fish, but its steak is winning more and more fans.

I have not been to Cattlemen's but obviously it's been around for 75-80 years for a reason and the fact that it was packed with locals probably means that most people have a good experience. You probably just got lucky (or unlucky in this case), but there are lots of other steak places that are supposed to be good so whatever you think.
