where to stay with elderly parents
 

My parents want me to go to Vegas with them in the fall. They are both in their 80's and fairly active. Which hotels mid-strip have easy access to others? They can walk but I don't want them to over-due it. Dad loves to gamble horses and Mom loves slots. I haven't been since the MGM and Luxor were considered the new ones. Any suggestions would be appreciated. PS... My Mom and I want to do some touristy stuff, also.

Paris and Bally's are connected via a walkway of shops and are both great choices for your parents. Bellagio and Monte Carlo are connected via a (free) tram and either would be nice - kind of at opposite ends of the financial spectrum. There is also a tram (free, too) between the Mirage & Treasure Island and another that runs from Mandalay Bay to Luxor to Excalibur. Otherwise I don't think any others are "connected" unless yuo want to consider those on the monorail.

No matter where you stay there is lots of walking. We always plotz our elderly relatives in wheel chairs and push them around. Surprisingly, it is easier on everybody.

Paris is an excellent suggestion.

I was there last September and the tram between Bellagio and Monte Carlo was not operating due to expansion at Bellagio. Has it reopened?

The Monte Carlo has a small but easily accesable sports book for Dad. Paris has one too that is small but nice. Ballys sports book is essentially in the basement and a distance from the casino.

If that is a critical part of your trip and Dad wants the big time Sports Book, consider Caesars or MGM or Mirage. I am pretty sure that Mom can find a slot machine or 2 at all of the above ;-)

I still think Paris is a great choice for location, property and all around good time.

depends on the price range but i would recommend the bellagio, the flamingo, bally's or paris. they are all central strip so they can walk one direction for a while, go relax in the hotel and then venture out in the other direction. plus they are all very convenient to see the bellagio water show at night. my folks (80 too) stayed at the flamingo and payed extra for a gauranteed strip view which was great. flamingo and bally's are the least fancy of the 4 i recommended.
