Where to stay on Sanibel?

My friend and I have enjoyed a beach vacation in Nov the past three years. Last year Zihuatanejo the year before Honolulu. Since the airfare for Nov 08 is $250 higher than last year to several spots on the Pacific Coast of Mexico ( and we depart from SFO) we decided to consider Florida on the Gulf coast. We are pretty sure we want to split our time 4 days on Sanibel and 4 days on Marco Island. We will have a car. The Hilton on Marco Island looks relaxing, but we are having difficulty landing on just the right accomodation in Sanibel. We are interested in biking, hiking, flora and fauna and of course lounging on the beach. We are happy to eat some meals in and some out. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Cornish, have a look at westwindinn.com ... We love it ... great staff, wonderful ambiance ... on Sanibel. You can get a room with a kitchenette, and run back and forth between the beach and the pool!
