Here's another recommendation for the Bayside Inn. We've been going there every year for almost 20 years (first stay was $39/night!). Be advised that the beds are very, very, firm. And, check out time is 10AM, sharp, but you are welcome to stay the rest of the day. Those views!
Beware of anything $150 and under, especially available at this late date or in Weirs Beach.
However, Belknap Point Motel and Greystone Inn (both have websites) in Gilford are both right on the water and may be available for around $150. We've stayed in both and they are just fine. Just down the road (a mile or two east) is the Victorian House - a lovely place for dinner with a terrific "tavern". I've also been told that there's a new place at the town docks that's excellent. (This place changes hands all the time for some reason. But, whatever is there has always been excellent.)
Unfortunately, there aren't that many places to stay "close to the water", as private homes, conservation land, condos, etc., leave little waterfront property for inexpensive motels. And, this is one of those destinations where everyone books this year for next (like ourselves having stayed all over and found our perfect places).
And, a cruise on the Mount Washington (afternoon or dinner) is highly recommended. The food on the dinner cruise is fine for the price - bands/themes are always outstanding.
Good luck!
