where to stay near French Laundry?

Any suggestions on where we can spend the night after eating at the French Laundry? We will probably come out to the area for the day prior to dinner, so being in a nice location would be great. The next morning, we have to catch a flight from SF to LA at 10:00am. Thanks!

I stayed at the Railroad Inn a few years ago that was within walking distance of the F.L. Very reasonable prices and very nice inside. You actually stay in an old railroad car that has ben converted into rooms. I stayed in the caboose and it was large and spacious. Comfy bed and great shampoo and stuff. It's a low maintence place though so if you need a front desk person to always be around you are out of luck. basically check in and you are on your own. But it was perfect, we walked to and from our French Laundry dinner and it was easy to drive around to some of the vinyards. Enjoy your meal - I still dream about mine!!

Assuming this is dinner & not lunch, I hope you're not doing this on a Sunday through Friday when you have to drive back to SFO & make your way through the commute traffic.

If so, budget 3 1/2 hrs - so you'll have to leave the Yountville area around 5am. On a Fri or Sat, you can sleep in a tad & leave at 6-6:30am.

Vintage Inn is a short walk from the French Laundry.

We stayed at the Petit Logis Inn which is right behind Bouchon and Bouchon bakery so you can walk to all 3 places! it is really a lovely inn.

We stayed at the Vintage Inn several years ago and it was lovely. As Stu said, it is a short walk to the restaurant. Check it out since I cannot vouch for it now.

I agree with Stu. Take a later flight to LA and avoid the traffic. Vintage Inn/Villagio has a wonderful breakfast that you'll want to enjoy. I'm not sure if they serve as early as 5am.

We stay at the Lavender (www.foursisters.com) which is a great B&B within walking distance to The French Laundry. We LOVED our dinner at FL and the walk back to our room at Lavender was easy. Enjoy!
