Where to stay near Disney World?
I'm considering planning a family trip to Disney World. We'd like to stay in a pet friendly condo/villa (2 adults, 2 kids) not too far from Disney (but we're willing to drive 15 mins to get to Disney). Pet friendly makes it tricky, so I was looking on VRBO. Problem is there are SO many towns/cities listed in the Disney area. Any recommendations on good areas to stay in besides Orlando in the Disney area? We are on a budget but want a "nice" area. Thanks!

Snowrooster, there are a couple of developments that have been specifically recommended several times by previous posters. I haven't tried the new search function, so I don't know if you can find the posts, but I believe they were Windsor Hills and Formosa Gardens.

Since Disney covers such a huge area, I would recommend you choose one of Disney properties to stay. Otherwise, you will probably lose a lot of precious time in the heavy traffic that surrounds the Disney area. We live only 30 miles from there but we stay at a different Disney hotel every time we go and just love the "perfect feeling" there. You may pay more but I don't think you'll be the least bit disappointed.
I would think their Campground Wilderness will accept pets; have you tried renting one of their units there? That name may have changed since it's been awhile since I've been there.

We stayed at Windsor Hills last fall. We found it on VRBO and chose it for the price ($84/night), proximity to WDW (about 10 minutes) and amenities (nice pool your kids will love). Windsor Hills is a gated community, I think it is listed under Kissimmee. We felt very safe there.
I am uncertain if this is a pet friendly complex.
I will be happy to provide additional info if you need it.
I can't tell you how many people were stunned we didn't stay on Disney property. None of us feel like we didn't get the Disney experience because we were off property--the kids want to know when we are going back. It all depends on what you want your experience to be. Happy planning.
