Where to Stay near Bryce Canyon
 

I booked two rooms at Harolds Place in Panguitch, Utah. I researched as many sites as possible for places to stay including Tripadvisor and Stepside. After becoming confused reviewing ratings and comments I settled on Harolds Place based on reviews from tripadvisor.
Did I make a good choice? or is there some other recommendations. We are escorting a freind from The East Coast through Bryce Canyon. We will be picking her up in St.George and touring Zion First then on to Bryce. If anyone has recommendations of where to stay for one night near Zion I would also appreciate it. Thank you

Ruby's is right outside Bryce. Nice lodging at a decent price.

Panguitch is really not very near to Bryce. Don't expect much if you stay there. It's small town, rural UT. The posters above have given you better recommendations.

A year and a half ago, we stayed at Ruby's Inn (a Best Western property) within a mile or two of the Bryce Canyon entrance. It has a terrific history (started out as the first tourist accommodation in the 1920's or something like that). Many (if not all) of the rooms are accessed from outside, but they are very clean and LARGE. There's a terrific restaurant in the complex - one of thes best steaks I've ever had, and I'm picky. Wonderful "60s-vintage" atmosphere....very nostalgic place that's remembers the old days. I will definitely stay there again and recommend it.

Ideally i would try to get lodging within the park if possible. The lodge there is very nice. Its likely booked regardless when you're traveling, but sometimes you can get in on a cancellation if you check back often. We've also stayed at Ruby's and agree with the previous poster.

Our first choice for Zion is also in the park; again, you might get in on a cancellation. If not, the Desert Pearl is a treasure, one of my favorite places to stay anywhere.

Panquitch is 25 miles away from the entrance to Bryce National Park. It's not a bad drive, but staying either in the Park or at Ruby's will make it easier to see sunrises and sunsets.

You can catch the free shuttle buses into the park from Ruby's. We've never stayed at Ruby's Inn (we've camped at their campground next door) but our son did and we visited him. The room was nice and they have an indoor pool.

I've also heard Ruby's mentioned before as a good lodging choice. Have not personally stayed there myself...

Southern Utah is such a beautiful and fascinating place. Hope your friend from back east really enjoys her visit. Have a wonderful trip!
