Where to stay in the Village

Does anyone out there know anything about the Village Guest House in Greenwich Village. The address is 123 Washington Pl. and looks to be just west of Washington Park near 6th Avenue. I have found an apartment there to rent for 2 weeks while my teenaged daughter attends a summer program at Parson's. However, there is no doorman or security system, which concerns me. Will we be safe in this area without any security? Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!!!

SO Sorry--------this is a duplicate post. Just ignore!

Not sure what you mean by no security system. If this is an apartment - most of the buildings in NYC don;t have doormen (which IMHO is not the safest choice in my experience). (And this includes the buidling I live in - with apartments worth over $1 million.) As long as the building has good solid locks on the outer doors and a workable intercom system - that's as much security as you get in most buidlings.

But you say Guest House - is this a hotel with a lobby and staff- if so that would be the security.

I think you need to clarify.

Thanks for trying to help me clarify, NYTraveler. As far as I understand at this point, this "guest house" is an "historic" townhouse with 2 small apts on the ground floor and 1 larger apt. upstairs. No lobby or hotel staff. It seems as though the term "guest house" is somewhat of a misnomer.
