Where to stay in Sedona?
 

I am trying to put together a last minute trip to the G.Canyon, Sedona and Scottsdale or Phoenix. I have been on the internet for two days straight looking at hotels. I want to stay as close to Red Rock as possible (Views). My 12 year old daughter and husband will be along. Thought about a pink jeep tour and staying at either the Point South Mountain Resort or Point Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort but don't know which. Can anyone help with the jeep tour and hotel accommodations?

I hate to sound like I'm getting a kickback from this place, since I've recommended it sevral times already, but for a reasonably priced, clean motel in a beautiful setting check out the Sky Ranch Lodge. We stayed there one night a few weeks ago, and wished we could have stayed longer. Beautifully manicured grounds with picnic tables, brooks, mini bridges,a swimming pool, lots of wild birds, etc. Fabulous views of the town, and right near one of Sedona's famous vortex's. The only drawback is that there is a small airport down the road, and the planes start warming up about 7:00 in the morning.

You can't get any closer to the red rocks in Sedona than at Enchantment. It's built inside a deep red rock canyon. It's the nicest resort in the area, and even if you don't stay there, it's well worth a visit, even if just for lunch or breakfast.
The Pointe resorts are OK. Large and a bit impersonal, but decent values both of them. The PSM is mostly a convention hotel. Knowing your budget range would help. Low season starts very soon in PHX and rates drop quite a bit at the nicer places.

We stayed at the Enchantment for part of our honeymoon, and the view out our deck of the red rocks was absolutely amazing. It's expensive - but worth every penny..........

The Southwest Inn at Sedona is on the main highway, just where you turn off to Enchantment. It is much less costly than Enchantment,and the rooms are nice. Many Fodors posters recommended it and I was very pleased with my stay there in late April.You can be hiking in the red rocks with a two minute drive North on Dry Creek Road.

We made a similar trip in 2001. I would recommend the Hilton in Sedona. Our room was a suite with a fireplace. From our balcony we could view the Red Rocks. The pool was nice as well as the restaurant. We drove up to the Sky Ranch Lodge for the view. It would also probably be a good choice, more unique & rustic than the Hilton.
In Phoenix we stayed @ Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak. Our 7 year old loved the lazy river. I would definately recommend both places.

I second zootsi--Sky Ranch Lodge, which, I, too, have recommended often here. Nice rooms, lovely grounds, fair prices, proximity to awesome views make it a winner.

My wife and I stayed at Enchantment twice. It is one of our favorite spots. the rooms are well equiped and elegant in a rustic way. Its such a great feeling standing on your balcony and seeing some deer nearby. There are even hiking trails on the property. This resort fits into the red rocks, has the same color. It is a unique place. The only drawback(not to us) is that its about 14 miles away from town.

Another vote for Sky Ranch. We spent 4 wonderful days there last fall. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Sedona, even if I could afford the big bucks for Enchantment

My husband and I loved the Enchantment Resort. We stayed in a Casita Junior Suite, which had a living room area with a fireplace, a huge luxurious bathroom, and a patio with a spectacular view of the red rocks. The Enchantment has 2 bedroom units, too, if that's what you need. It's an easy walk to the Boynton Canyon vortex from the resort; also, the Apache ruins. The hiking around the resort is not to be missed; the views are spectacular. Regardless of where you stay, you will have a wonderful time.

If you have time for a 60 minute time share presentation, Los Abrigados Resort and Spa is a great place to stay for a very reasonable rate. We made arrangements without any reservations for a 2 night stay through the Owner's Services located inside the lobby of the resort in 2001 for an unbelievable rate of $50 a night.
This is an upscale resort (4 Star) with all the ammenities and all units are 2 generous room suites. The phone number for Owner's Services is 928/282-5520 to make advanced reservations.
Of course, the time share thing is not mandatory, but the rates are around $225 a night.
Hope you are able to stay at the Grand Canyon. The spectacular views over the canyon as the sun rises and sets can most easily be injoyed if you are staying at the canyon. All accomodations at Grand Canyon National Park are made through www.xanterra.com
