Harbor View Inn is a great place, might fall in your price range at that time of year....about 6 weeks before your visit go to www.santabarbaraca.com and check the "hot deals".

Another possibility might be www.cabrillo-inn.com , an okay place for a family stay near the beach

A couple of years ago we stayed at Days Inn Santa Barbara (about 100 yards from the beach). The price was around $130/night. Unlike other Days Inns - very quiet and clean property where I would definitely stay again. However for $200 you can find an even better place.

You should try bidding for a hotel on Priceline. People have gotten the Fess Parker Doubletree for around the$110/nt range, and there have been very positive reviews, especially from families with kids. Checkout www.biddingfortravel.com for bidding advice for priceline. This online bulletin board will help people with priceline bidding, and give results of others about what hotles they have gotten at what price.

Harborview is very nice-we stayed there with our 2 kids. It is right across the street from the ocean and pier, and it has a nice pool.
