Where to stay in San Diego?

Please give any insight on these hotels:
Bahia Resort, Catamaran Hotel, Hyatt Islandia, and Sheraton Hotel and Marina.
How much is admission to the San Diego Zoo, and where is La Jolla Cove?
Thanks!

Admission to the zoo depends on what package you purchase (whether you want the tour, etc.). But I believe it's around 15 bucks or so. It's a great zoo, but the price is a little steep.

The La Jolla Cove is a small beach in La Jolla. La Jolla is a very nice area of San Diego, about 10 miles north of the downtown San Diego area. Give La Jolla a whole day, if you've got the time; it's a lovely place.

If my memory serves, the Bahia and the Catamaran are about the same (comfortable, but nothing grand) and the Hyatt and the Sheraton are classier. I don't know anything about the Marina.
A little known secret place is the
Pacific Terrace in Pacific Beach.

La Valencia in La Jolla is incredible.

Don't worry about your hotel, there's
so much to do, you won't see your room
much.

I agree with Todd. SD is an absolutely beautiful city that is VERY easy to get around in by car. There is so much to do that you will NEVER be in your room except to sleep. We chose one of the moderately priced (~$60-80) chain hotels on Hotel Circle. It is very easy to get to wherever you need to go from there.

Don't know a lot about your properties. We stayed at the Embassy Suites in La jolla. Rate was great, as was the property. Annemarie

Brandon... make sure to go to La Jolla Cove. Go early in the morning... parking is always difficult to find. There is a great little coffee house called Brockton Villa (formerly 'Panakin's') that overlooks the Cove. The retaining wall in front of the restaurant has abalone shells embedded in the concrete. They have great coffee and do an especially good breakfast or brunch. While in the area, you may want to visit a small but well done aquarium at Scripps Institute of Oceanography. Drive a couple of miles north of the cove on La Jolla Shores drive and follow the signs. Also, if you are the type... there is Black's Beach, accessible by foot from the cliffs. It's a nicely secluded nude beach! Don't know much about the hotels in the Mission Bay area... because we always stay with relatives...Have a great time!
