Where to Stay in Phoenix/Scottsdale?
I have found some very good rates for both the Courtyard by Marriott on Camelback Rd. and the Sunburst Resort in Scottsdale. Is one preferable to the other? Which is a better location? What about as far as convenience for restaurants and sightseeing?

I haven't stayed at either one, so I can't help you there. As far as location and convenience go, you'll probably be OK with either one. I think the Sunnburst is closer to Old Scottsdale, which has some interesting sights and restaurants. No matter, you're going to need a car anyway to get around Scottsdale.

Both locations are okay. If it were me, I would take the Sunburst Resort. It's in a more upscale area and has close access to Old Town Scottsdale. While I haven't seen the rooms, I've only been in the lobbies of both, it seems like the Sunburst is more upscale. The Sunburst is also more of a resort than the Courtyard.

If you're referring to the Courtyard near 24th and Camelback, it's quite a ways from Scottsdale. It is close, however, to the Biltmore shopping mall, which is nice. But it's just a basic hotel without much in the way of extras, located in what amounts to a strip mall. The Sunburst is not the fanciest of resorts, but it has more amenities than the Courtyard.

I'd go for the Sunburst. It's a resort, as opposed to the Courtyard which is nice, but just a basic hotel. I think the Sunburst has been recently renovated so should be pretty nice.

Ginny,
I have an excellant choice for a resort in Scottsdale. The Doubletree LaPosada on Lincoln Ave has a pool you can almost water ski it is that big. The rooms are very large and it is in the best part of Scottsdale. I have stayed there several times with my family and I would go back in a heartbeat!!! Go to Doubletree.com
