Where to stay in or around Lafayette?

DH & I will be in Lafayette for a conference and would like recommendations for a great place to stay. I've found great suggestions from Fodorites for things to do, but still looking for "special" lodging.

www.cajunhot.com website is gone . . . any replacement for that great site?

I just got on cajunhot.com no problems...? Try lafayettetravel.com - it's the same website.

For hotels, I'd suggest:
Holiday Inn Express (Ambassador Caffrey)-New
Courtyard by Mariott (Kaliste Saloom)
Hampton Inn (S. College)-New
Hilton (Pinhook)

I don't know that I'd call any a "great" place to stay. I don't know anything about the B&B's in the area, but if you are looking at one in particular, I can check it out for you if you'd like. Based on what I saw on cajunhot.com, I would try La Maison de Belle. There was an article about it in a local weekly paper. You can try to cut & paste. http://www.theind.com/feature3.asp?CID=1500823102

BayouGal,
Where's your conference? I can tell you about a few nice places if you can give me a location or street name.
That being said, I like the Hotel Acadiana on Pinhook.

The conference is on Pinhook, but we wouldn't be opposed to staying outside of Lafayette for a great B & B or hotel, and to get in some sightseeing and fun. Thanks for the help!

We stayed at T'Freres several years ago. It was pretty nice. Old Castillo in St. Martinville looks very cool.

We chose BW Hotel Acadiana. I will post a report on it when we get back. I didn't realize until it was too late that Cafe Des Amis in Breaux Bridge has a B & B now. Their guests have priority seating for the Saturday morning Zydeco breakfast, too. We'll do that next time! ;-)

We LOVED Cafe Des Amis--one of our new favorite places. The BW Hotel Acadiana is pretty big, nice size rooms, older but kept in good condition. Nothing fancy, though. We enjoyed our stay there.
