Name your favorite weekend destination
If distance were no impediment, where would you like to spend a 3-day weekend in the United States? I like Pasadena, LA, San Diego, the California coast, San Francisco, San Francisco environs, Portland, Seattle, Scottsdale, Palm Springs, Chicago, NY, DC, Charleston, Boston. Always looking for new places to go for short trips - like Pasadena, where there's an abundance of things to see and do, as well as a nice town, with good shopping and good restaurants.

Good question!
Vancouver, B.C. - I know it isn't in the US but it is still close enough for a weekend trip. I fell in love with this city last summer. Nice mix of outdoors and city.
NYC - I've been twice but have barely scratched the surface.
Any national park - Sorry I couldn't narrow it down to one. Always happy spending a weekend in the outdoors with some hiking and a sandwich & beer out of the cooler.
I never thought of Pasadena. I'm also interested in learning more about Traverse City.

fourfortravel, I have never heard of Chincoteague so I Googled and it sounds like a place we would like to go for a few days this summer. We live about 9hrs away. Could you tell ;me what the activities are? We like to walk the seashore, birdwatch and just explore new areas.

cd, we enjoyed Chincoteague for bird migrations, the beach, and biking and hiking--mostly outdoor activities. And fresh seafood, of course. There is a famous wild pony swim every summer that draws many visitors, but we have never visited.
