Where to stay in Kauai?

My mom and I will be flying in on a thursday to Kauai and will arrive in the early afternoon. Our timeshare reservation is not until Friday. We have never been to Kauai and are looking for somewhere very inexpensive ($50-$75 a night) for the one night. Our timeshare is in Hanalei Bay. Any ideas as to which side or area we should stay on? As a side note: we are beach bums!
Thanks in advance!!

Hi,my hubby and I got back from Kauai in Dec. and while there saw a remodeled hotel right around the corner from Hamura's Saimin in Lihue that advertised rates starting at 65 dollars a night. The website is www.kauaipalmshotel.com it looked really nice but it is not on the beach though close and cheap for one night, plus close to Hamura's!I hope this helps, Kim

rozzie, here's another place that I've heard raved about for years, as a great value. Their rooms start at $90 night, on Kalapaki Beach in Lihue.

Why don't you try priceline and see if anything comes up.

If you're beach bums, use the day to see Poipu beach before heading north. Some good info here
