We couldn't afford the pricier places, but wanted a good experience. We got it at the Outrigger Kauai Beach - now under renovation to become a Radisson. Great midpoint location on the island and nice setting. Not posh, but nice. If you like pizza - get some good stuff at the Brick Oven in Kalaheo. When I go back, I think it'll be at the Hanalei Bay Resort. That area beats all!

SHERATON POIPU...Without a doubt...THE BEST! My husband and I honeymooned there and fell in love with Kauai so much we returned for our first anniversary and stayed at the Hyatt because the Sheraton was booked. Our room at the Sheraton was Ocean Front on the top floor (fourth) and had a vaulted ceiling, with a ceiling fan suspended from the balcony. The ocean waves crashed less than 50 yards from our balcony and we slept to the lullaby of the ocean surf each night. It was the vacation of our dreams and the Sheraton was much quieter and more romantic than the Hyatt. We also stayed at the Ritz Carlton during the honeymoon in Maui, which was nice but we actually liked the sheraton more!
