Where to stay in Carmel, Ca?
I have a recommendation for Normandy Inn - anyone stay there? I would love more input. Any other recommendations of places to stay?

The Tickle Pink Inn . Stayed there a couple of years ago just for one night.Very nice plush older building. Great Views from the balcony. There is another hotel right next door but dont recall name. It had a restaurant with seating outside looking at the ocean. We walked over and had dinner there. Im sure the Tickle Pink has a website.

I've stayed at two and liked both: Carmel Garden Court Inn and Best Western Bay View Inn. The first is considered a B&B style Inn with a great expanded continental breakfast, they gear it to your taste and deliver it to your room. It's a little older, but nicely maintained. And you typically can get rooms in the $100 to $160.- range at both, which is quite reasonable for Carmel.

The Tickle Pink is fabulous. Your rate includes happy hour and breakfast. The hotel next door is the Highlands Inn. Have never stayed there but had a great dinner there.

trip, the best western looked nice - couple of questions - what room did you have - was it nice? did it have a fireplace? how far was it from town center and the beach?
|
About three blocks to town center, our room did have a fireplace, I don't recall the name. Prob. a mile to the beach. About the same from the Garden Court. That is probably why they are more affordable.

try the asilomar inn. it is in the next town over and fabulous.
they have cottages on the waterfront, fireplaces, or very fairly priced dorm type NICE rooms. we would go back i believe it is a state owned conference center. a real find for us. |

I love the Pine Inn right on Ocean Avenue in Carmel-by-the-Sea (Normandy Inn is in the same basic area). It's right in the middle of town so you just go down and walk around the little streets discovering every little detail of the place--quaint and romantic and a easy walk to the beach.
Tickle Pink is 3 miles farther away on Highway 1. Beautiful and great views. Right behind it, higher up the hill is the Highlands Inn (a Park Hyatt)--very nice rooms, great views and restaurant. I had my wedding reception at the Highlands Inn dining room and everyone loved the experience (got married at the Carmel Mission Basilica). When I think of Carmel, I like to stay right in the little town by the sea--therefore the Pine Inn is my personal favorite. |
